We are a self-led group with no formal teacher. We meet on alternate Monday afternoons in Hargrave Village Hall between 2 & 4 pm. We also meet outdoors in various locations when the weather is suitable. There is a lot of space in Hargrave Hall. More recruits are welcome. None of us in an expert.
This year (2026) we have been working on using shading to give our drawings a 3D effect. Two exercises focused on "Drawing on the right side of the brain", This is achieved by copying a set picture adding the dark areas and rubbing out the highlights on paper already shaded with graphite and by drawing the outlines without details and shading in the negative spaces to reveal the object. By using crumpled paper dipped in ink or acrylic paint we created patterned blots, using our imagination to create pictures from these blots.
