Our Recent Visits
September 2024 - Dorfold Hall
Beautiful weather enhanced our September visit to Dorfold Hall, a 400 year old Jacobean Mansion near Nantwich, built between 1616 and 1621 for an impending visit by James 1. It is currently inhabited by the Roundell family who have restored the Hall and added contemporary furnishings and paintings which complement the Grade 1 buildings and features, such as unique plasterwork ceilings, original panelling and fireplaces. Our excellent guide, Lana, brought alive the history of each room we visited including the bedroom used by James 1. For those members who attended, the ancient chestnut tree is believed to be about 1,000 years old. For many of us this was one of our favourite venues this year.
